He became interested in real estate while earning a BA in finance from Western Washington University in 2000, joined his father Joe Mercado at Properties NW in 2001, and became principal owner and managing broker in 2011.

Since 2001 he has sold over 2,000 properties with total sales exceeding $250 million, and was the #1 broker in Washington State by units sold in 2013. He serves Pierce, King, Kitsap, Thurston, Mason and Lewis counties, and balances work with coaching his daughters' sports teams, golfing and backpacking.
